My hair was originally a thick, super-curly afro: traditional kinky hair. Got a perm at ten, and after a few times around the great cycle of death (Perm the hair, it breaks, grow it out with braids/weaves, perm the hair, it breaks, grow it out with braids/weaves, perm the hair, it breaks, grow it out with braids/weaves, etc.) I decide to go natural again. Looks better on me anyway. But it's been 2 or 3 years now, %26amp; I'm noticing that my hair isn't curling up like it used to. The hairs don't curl together at all (no ringlets) and it's just kind of a miscellaneous puff, so to speak. And also, my hair doesn't curl up so much when I wet it anymore. It's still a fro, more or less, but the hairs themselves are straight; they just sort of zig-zag in a scraggly sort of way, and unless I just leave it out to dry for 3 hours after washing it, it won't curl up at all. Not to mention the breakage issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? And how do I fix it w/out chopping all my hair off again?
Black hair question!!! Anyone's free to answer, though, really. My hair keeps breaking and won't curl up...?
the first two answers make no sense lol
anyway, i think that you may have conditioned your hair so much, that it straightened over time. The products you are using may have "texturized" your hair.
But at the same time, it doesn't make sense for your hair to be BONE STRAIGHT, that's not normal.

ur prob usin a relaxer tht is too strong
try a kiddie perm like "just for me" or "motions kids"
then in between perms use "dr miracle " products. they have hair grease that will thicken the hair. it smells kinda bad but it works
if u dont wanna try any morre chemicles, just invest into a really good streightener like a "chi" or anything ceremic bc it will get ur hair good and streight at the root on down. dont fret girl it will all work out. my lil sister had the same issue and i nursed her hair back to life again. just take it slow and dont get frusterated :)

You need to use hair lotion that will keep your hair moist. Dry hair breaks. It sounds as though your hair is screaming for moisture.
