How do u make a fish tail braid on someones hair?

i know how to do a normal braid but not this one...

How do u make a fish tail braid on someones hair?

Normally most of us braid "underhanded," although I don't, with fish tail braids, you have to braid "overhanded," bringing the hair INTO the center of the braid from the sides. Instead of three equal sections, you'll have 4 sections, the two center sections being slightly wider than the strands coming from the outside.

Bring in the sections like this: RIGHT LEFT right left RIGHT LEFT righ left (the caps represent the thick sections, small letters represent smaller sections). You're braiding very loosely: be sure to have a tiny rubberband or something to end the braid with. Hope I've helped! The 4 sections instead of 3 is the main part which create the fishtail look. Happy creating!

this braid is actually only a two stranded braid. (much easier than four)

take the pony and divide into two equal sections.

next cross the sections

then take a peice from the side of one section and overlap the other, do the same from the other side.

each time you are bringing a section to overlap the other secure with your thumb and then let go of the rest of the section that you just brought over.

continue down until you get to the bottom and secure with a pony holder.

note that with regular three stranded braids you hold the hair and continue weaving the hair from the top of the braid so that the hair continually weaves to the bottom.

with this braid you don't do that.
