Well my answer to this question is a simple one,we have no choice. Especially black moms. More often than not our daughter's hair is short and kinky.

they are to young for chemicals and hot irons. As a result we braid or pig tail our kids hair,at least it will be nice and neat.

I don't think mothers today, have that much time to braid their

daughters' hair. Most moms' work, so they have cuts that

don't require that much attention in the morning before

school. And older girls, have their friends braid their hair, if

they want it. Girls older, love to experiment with changing

hair styles. They always have and probably always will.

When I was a kid, my mom stayed home. And she braided

my hair every morning. She'd pull my hair so tight, it would

really hurt. And even cry from it sometimes. And I'd fee like

an Asian with slanted eyes, it would feel so tight. I'm not

kidding on that. My mom was wicked at braiding hair LOL.

She said my hair was too thick and straight to anything else

with it. But that wasn't the case as I grew up and had to do

my own hair. She apparently didn't want to bother with haircuts and stylings. Then when my sisters came along later,

they had dutch boy haircuts. Bangs straight across on the

forehead and around the bottom too. They looked like walking

advertisements for that Dutch Boy paint kid LOL.

So I'd answer "No" to youir question. And ask if any mother

"loves" to braid their daughters hair. I think you'd get an em-

phatic "no", on that one.

In the late 1800s and the early-mid 1900s they did but not now. I don't think so. I rarely see pigtails. French braids are popular for special occasions for young girls, as well as for teens.
